FARGO - Janae Burich picked a good time to hit her first 3-point field goal of the season. She raised some money in North Dakota State's "Pink Zone" women's basketball game and it gave the Bison their first double-digit lead Saturday night.
If only somebody kicked in cash for blocked shots. Burich tied a single game school record with seven and helped the Bison shake off pesky Indiana Purdue-Indianapolis behind Abby Plucker's 24 points. The 76-48 victory at the Bison Sports Arena kept pace with South Dakota State for fourth place in the Summit League.
It was their fourth victory in five games heading into Monday night's home game against Western Illinois, which lost at SDSU on Saturday.
NDSU's shooting eye was a little off until Plucker found the range in the early going of the second half. She scored 15 of NDSU's points in a 20-8 run in the first seven minutes, which gave the Bison a 50-33 advantage.
It was NDSUs' annual game for breast cancer awareness with State Farm Insurance agent Jill Henning and Bison head coach Carolyn DeHoff each kicking in $100 for every made 3-pointer.

The bill came to $800 with the 6-foot-5 Burich getting the second trey of her career. She had one last year at Centenary College (La.). Besides her blocked shots, she had a career-high 10 rebounds to go along with her 14 points for her first career double-double.
The school blocked shot record is held by five different players with the last by Jerri Penley against Oakland University (Mich.) in 2008.
