Bills hire Rex Ryan as head coach

Former New York Jets coach Rex Ryan has been hired as head coach of the Buffalo Bills, the National Football League team said on Monday.

Ryan, who was fired by the Jets last month after the regular season, replaces Doug Marrone, who abruptly stepped down as the Bills coach on Dec. 31.
