FRISCO, Texas - Before North Dakota State took its team photo Thursday afternoon at Toyota Stadium, players snapped their own group shots. Some of those images included players grouped from the same home states.

Bison junior linebacker MJ Stumpf was part of the North Dakota group photo. From Harvey, the 6-foot-2, 218-pound Stumpf has emerged as a key player on defense in his first year as a starter. While he’s been in the program for three of NDSU’s four previous Division I FCS national championships, Saturday’s title game will have more significance.

“This one means a lot more to me,” said Stumpf, who is second on the team with 78 tackles. "To be in a bigger role and playing that many more snaps … it’s that much more special. The sense of urgency is that much more.”
