MOBILE, Ala. — North Dakota State offensive lineman Cody Mauch was recognized Friday for his strong week of practice at the Senior Bowl.

Mauch was named the National team's offensive lineman of the week as voted on by his National team peers on the defensive line and linebacker groups.

The Senior Bowl is slated for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, and televised on the NFL Network.

Mauch played center, guard and tackle over the three days of on-field practice that concluded Thursday at Hancock Whitney Stadium.

Mauch is the third consecutive NDSU player to earn practice player of the week honors at the Senior Bowl.

Former Bison wide receiver Christian Watson, who now plays for the Green Bay Packers, was named the wide receiver on the National team for the week at last year's Senior Bowl.

In 2021, from Bison offensive tackle Dillon Radunz, who now plays with the Tennessee Titans, was named the overall practice player of the week at the Senior Bowl.

Mauch said earlier this week he talked to Radunz about what to expect in Mobile.

“He definitely did something right,” Mauch said, “and so he had some good words (of advice) for me mainly about how the week was going to go. It was, 'Hey, you’re not going to get any sleep, so you’ve got to know that,' and so far, that part is right. But we’re here playing football all day and you can’t be mad about that.”

Heading into Senior Bowl week, Dane Brugler — a national NFL writer for The Athletic who covers the draft — had Mauch projected to get selected in the second round at No. 43 overall by the New York Jets.

"Mauch might not have the ideal length for tackle in the NFL, but he has movement skills, hand strength and competitiveness to be an early NFL starter, regardless of position," Brugler said in mid-January. "He can be a top-50 pick."
