LINCOLN, Neb. — The North Dakota State baseball team continued its winning ways with a 6-5 victory over Nebraska on Wednesday before 5,374 at the Cornhuskers' Hawks Field.
The Bison scored five runs in the top of the first inning and held off the Cornhuskers in the bottom of the ninth.
Druw Sackett hit a three-run home run and Garret Hill and Will Busch both drove in runs on sacrifice flies in the first to stake the Bison to a 5-0 lead. NDSU made it 6-0 in the third when Busch scored on a wild pitch.
Nebraska clawed back with two runs in the third and another in the fourth. In the ninth, the Bison committed a one-out error and the Huskers' Brice Matthews hits a two-out, two-run homer to make it 6-5. But Bison reliever Skyler Riedinger's second strikeout of the inning ended the game.
The Bison won their fifth-straight game and they have won six of their last seven. They are 16-26 overall and take a 10-5 Summit League record into a weekend league series at Northern Colorado on May 5-7 in Greeley, Colo.
