College baseball: Bison lose to Arizona in extra innings

The Wildcats' Garen Caulfield drove in the winning run with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 12th inning on Saturday in Tucson, Arizona.

TUCSON, Arizona — North Dakota State lost a close one for the second straight day when Arizona's Garen Caulfield's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 12th inning gave the Wildcats a 7-6 victory on Saturday.

The Bison, who fell to the Wildcats 8-6 on Friday, led 6-2 in the seventh but Arizona scored four in the home half of the seventh to tie it.

NDSU's James Dunlap had two hits and drove in three runs and Cadyn Schwabe had three hits and drove in two runs. Jack Steil and Terrell Huggins both had three hits and Steil drove in a run.

The Bison have dropped seven in a row and are 1-10 overall. They wrap up a three-game series at Arizona at 11 a.m. Sunday, March 5.
