AUSTIN, Texas — Texas erased a North Dakota State lead in the fourth inning and rode solid relief pitching to a 7-2 win over the Bison on Tuesday.

The Bison took a 2-1 lead into the fourth inning on Druw Sackett's run-scoring double in the first inning and Cadyn Schwabe's RBI single in the second.

But Texas took the lead with two runs in the four. The Longhorns added three more in the fifth and another in the eighth. Texas relievers Charlie Hurley and Heston Tole shut down the Bison over the final 6-1/3 innings, allowing just four hits and striking out six.

The Bison have lost 12 in a row and are 1-15 overall. The Bison and Longhorns play again at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, in Austin. NDSU then moves on to play three games at Houston Christian on May 17-19.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
