OXBOW, N.D. — The North Dakota State men's and women's teams both hold leads over St. Thomas and North Dakota after Tuesday's first round of the NDSU Fall Invitational at the Oxbow Country Club.
The Bison women finished at 304 and lead St. Thomas by five shots and North Dakota by 10.
NDSU's Elise Hoven shot a 2-over 74 and holds a one-shot lead over teammate Catherine Monty, St. Thomas' Emma Davies and North Dakota's Emersyn Walker. NDSU's Madi Hicks is in fifth, two shots behind Hoven.
Nate Deziel shot an 8-under 64 to lead the Bison men to a superb 16-under 272 first day. They lead St. Thomas by 19 shots and UND by 28.
Six Bison men make up the top six. Deziel leads teammates Ian Simonich and Gavin Cronkhite by five shots. Both shot 3-under 69. Josh Gavin and Beck Erholtz both shot 2-under 70 and are tied for fourth, and Brock Winter shot 1-under 71 and is sixth.

The invite's second and final round begins at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, at Oxbow.
