SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — North Dakota State senior Jacob Rodin was named the Summit League's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year on Friday.

Rodin, of Kenmare, N.D., won Summit League titles in the 800 meters, the 4x400 relay and the distance relay this season. He was the only athlete to win three gold medals at the league championships.

Rodin is NDSU's first athlete to win the track athlete of the year honor. Bison athletes have won five Indoor Field Athlete of the Year honors since the awards were split in 2009.

Rodin was the Summit's performer of the week five times in a six-week span in January and February.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
