FARGO, N.D. — North Dakota State men’s track and field athletes have qualified for 10 events in the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds on May 24-27 in Sacramento, Calif.
A total of nine Bison men qualified for the meet, with senior Trevor Otterdahl competing in the hammer throw and shot put.
The NCAA announced the top 48 declared entries in all individual events and the top 24 relay teams in each region on Thursday. The top 12 finishers in each event at the Preliminary Rounds will advance to the NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas, on June 7-10.
Otterdahl will be the top-ranked Bison entering the meet, standing at No. 5 in the West for the hammer throw this season. Javelin throwers Benji Phillips (9th) and Matt Kraft (12th) will both also enter the meet among the top 12.
Jarod White (pole vault) was the lone Bison freshman to earn a bid to the West Prelims. Cam Landis (shot put) and Tristan Bush (hammer) will also make their NCAA West Prelims debuts for the Bison next week.
