FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas — North Dakota State’s Cody Roder and Jacob Rodin both advanced to the quarterfinals in their events Wednesday evening at the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds.
Roder broke the NDSU school record in the 400 for a second straight meet, running 46.18 seconds. He advanced to Friday night’s NCAA quarterfinals, in which the top 24 will race for a spot in the top 12.
Rodin also advanced to Friday's quarterfinal in the 800 with an outdoor personal-best 1 minute, 48.86 seconds. He moved up to No. 3 on the NDSU all-time list in the event.
The top 12 finishers in each event at the Preliminary Rounds advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon, on June 8-11.
The preliminaries continue Thursday with women athletes holding their first day of competition.
