HUNTSVILLE, Texas — North Dakota State had its championship reign halted Sunday, May 2, in the Division I FCS quarterfinals at Bowers Stadium.

Sam Houston rallied late for a 24-20 victory to knock off the three-time defending national champion Bison. NDSU had won eight of the nine previous FCS national titles.

The Bison (7-3) had advanced to the FCS semifinals in the previous nine season. They finished a season with three losses for the first time since 2010.
