EUGENE, Ore. — The North Dakota State women's track and field team had four representatives at Thursday's NCAA Outdoor Championships, and all four throwers clinched All-American honors.
Akealy Moton, Maddy Nilles, Kari Wolfe and Shelby Gunnells competed for the Bison on Thursday.
Moton, from West Fargo, placed third in the shot put with a school-record throw of 59 feet, 5 inches for first-team All-American honors. Moton also claimed second-team honors with a 13th-place finish in the javelin.
Nilles placed sixth in the hammer throw with a toss of 225-1 for first-team All-American status. Wolfe was a first-team All-American in the javelin with a mark of 180-6 (fifth place).
Gunnells finished 11th in the shot put for second team All-American status. She also received the NCAA Elite 90 Award, which is given to the single student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average at each of the NCAA's 90 national championships. Gunnells has earned her Bachelor of Science degree from NDSU in geology with a 4.0 GPA.
