Bison women's basketball team opens season with road win

Solid shooting and defense lifted North Dakota State over Milwaukee to kick off the 2021-22 season on Thursday.

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Solid shooting on one end and good defense on the other helped North Dakota State defeat Milwaukee 69-58 in the Bison's season-opener on Thursday night.

The Bison shot 49 percent overall and hit 8 of 17 from 3-point range. They limited the Panthers to 34 percent shooting and the Bison won the boards 34-27.

Ryan Cobbins led the Bison with 20 points and four assists, Heaven Hamling scored 11 points and Abby Schulte had 10 points and four assists. Kadie Deaton finished with eight points and seven rebounds. Emily Behnke also had seven boards.

The Bison will stay in Wisconsin to play at Green Bay at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13.
