MEMPHIS, Tenn. — North Dakota State had its first game against Drake canceled due to weather and then fell to Texas-San Antonio 3-2 on Friday to wrap up the opening day of the Blues City Classic.

After start times were initially pushed back a couple of hours, NDSU’s first scheduled game of the day against Drake was ultimately canceled due to high winds and power outages.

In the evening game, the Roadrunners would jump out to a lead in the second inning on a sacrifice fly following a walk and a double.

In the fifth inning, NDSU's Skylar Padgett led off the inning with a walk and two batters later, the Bison took the lead on Emilee Buringa's home run to right-center.

Texas-San Antonio answered back with its own two-run home run to go up 3-2 in the top of the sixth.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
