College softball: Bison defeat Dayton, Middle Tennessee State

Ciara Jensen blasted a three-run homer for NDSU against Dayton

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The North Dakota State softball team started Saturday with a 5-4 extra-inning walk-off victory over Dayton and finished it with an 8-3 win over tournament host Middle Tennessee State at the MTSU Invitational.

Nicole Licea scored Molly Gates on a one-out bunt in the bottom of the ninth inning of Game 1 to give NDSU (4-10) the victory. Mac Schultz pitched all nine innings in the opener, allowing three earned runs on eight hits with six strikeouts and no walks. Ciara Jensen was 2-for-4 with a three-run homer for NDSU against Dayton.

Against Middle Tennessee State, Skylar Padgett had a three-run triple for the Bison. Paige Vargas pitched all seven innings for NDSU, striking out three with one walk and surrendering eight hits.
