OXFORD, Mississippi — Carley Goetschius doubled three times and drove in three runs in North Dakota State's 7-1 win over Samford on Saturday at the OM Softball Complex.

Goetschius doubled with one out in the first inning and later scored the game's first run on Bella Dean's sacrifice fly. Goetschius' bases-loaded double in the second inning put the Bison up 4-0.

Anjolee Aguilar-Beaucage drove in a run in the third with a sacrifice fly and the Bison scored two runs in the fourth on Dean's RBI single and another run scored on a Samford throwing error.

NDSU's Savy Williams started and allowed five hits over 2-1/3 scoreless innings. Piper Reed got the win, allowing an unearned run on two hits in 2-2/3 innings, and Lainey Lyle pitched two scoreless innings to finish the game.

The Bison are 16-11 overall and open their Summit League schedule with three games at Kansas City on March 25-26.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
