A bus transporting the North Dakota State volleyball team to an exhibition match left Interstate 94 on Friday, NDSU Athletics reported.

The bus driver and passengers "are all safe," the department stated in a release. First responders and other people on site assisted the team.

The team was traveling to play a Saturday exhibition match against Montana State in Beach, N.D.

Due to weather and road conditions, the team is returning to Fargo on Friday night and the Saturday exhibition match was canceled, according to the athletics department.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
