College volleyball: Bison gear up for Summit postseason with road win

North Dakota State earned a big win over Summit League leader South Dakota on Thursday.

VERMILLION, S.D. — North Dakota State can't catch Summit League leader South Dakota for the regular-season championship but the Bison proved ready for the conference postseason with a 25-23, 25-17, 13-25, 25-23 win on the Coyotes' home court on Thursday.

The Coyotes lead the league at 15-2 and the Bison are 13-4 and tied with Omaha for second place with one Summit match remaining at South Dakota State on Saturday.

The Bison won the season series against the Coyotes, having South Dakota in five sets in September.

On Thursday, NDSU's Syra Tanchin had a team-high 22 kills and she also had 12 digs. Ali Hinze had 16 kills and Michelle Artis finished with nine kills and three blocks.

Kelley Johnson had 46 set assists and 11 digs. Logan O'Brien had five assists and 16 digs, and Taylor Quan served three aces.


The Bison are 20-9 overall and take on the Jackrabbits in the regular-season finale at 1 p.m. Saturday in Brookings, S.D.
