Cross country: Bison men place 2nd at Summit League championships; women finish 3rd

NDSU had three runners on each side finish in the top 10

MACOMB, Ill. — The North Dakota State men's cross country team finished second for the fourth consecutive year at the Summit League cross country championships Friday, March 5, at Spring Lake Park. The Bison women's team notched a third-place finish.

Senior Alex Bartholomay paced the Bison men with a fifth-place finish in the 8K, crossing the line in 25 minutes, 13.66 seconds. Junior Jakob Hanna placed eighth at 25:37.07 and redshirt freshman Zach Johnson was ninth at 25:43.23.

South Dakota won the men's team title with a score of 22 points. NDSU followed with 51 points and the University of North Dakota was third with 61.

On the women's side, the Bison had another trio of top-10 finishers, led by senior Jen Dufner with a seventh-place finish at 22:17.39 on the 6K course. Sophomore Kaleesa Houston was eighth at 22:21.78 and senior Melina Kuerschner placed 10th with a time of 22:34.69.

SDSU claimed the women's title with 22 points, UND was second at 44 and NDSU placed third with 54.
