FARGO - One day after North Dakota State promoted Stevie Keller as the director of the men's and women's track and field programs, the school promoted Andrew Carlson in much the same way in cross country.

The NDSU women's head coach will also assume those responsibilities with the men's program. Carlson led the Bison women to the 2019 Summit League cross country title after three straight runnerup finishes.

Carlson, a Fargo South graduate, is in his seventh season directing the Bison distance runners. He will remain in his role as an assistant in track and field.

"Andrew has absolutely earned this," Keller said. "He has proven that he can lead a program but more importantly he has shown that he cares deeply about his athletes and he can inspire them to achieve at their highest levels."
