Women's basketball: Strong defense lifts Bison to win over Boise State

NDSU doubled the Broncos' 12 third-quarter points to take control in the Bison's opener at the Nugget Classic on Friday in Reno, Nev.

RENO, Nev. — North Dakota State pulled away in the third quarter and defeated Boise State 68-53 on Saturday in the undefeated Bison's first game in the Nugget Classic.

The Bison led by five points at halftime but outscored the Broncos 24-12 in the third quarter to take command.

NDSU's Heaven Hamling scored 23, Elle Evans scored 13 and Abby Schulte added 11. Hamling, Taylor Brown and Evans all had four rebounds, and Hamling also had three assists and three steals.

The Bison improved to 5-0 overall. They play Nevada at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27 in the Nugget Classic in Reno.
