Women's golf: Bison in eighth place at Golfweek intercollegiate

Madi Hicks led NDSU with a first-round 72 and is tied for 12th after Monday's opening round of the three-day Golfweek/Any Given Tuesday Intercollegiate in South Carolina.

PAWLEY’S ISLAND, South Carolina — The North Dakota State women’s golf team is tied for eighth place after the first round of the Golfweek/Any Given Tuesday Intercollegiate on Monday at the Caledonia Golf & Fish Club.

The Bison carded an opening round 302 and are in a five-way tie for eighth place with Akron, Florida Gulf Coast, Northern Colorado, and Morehead State. James Madison shot 285 and leads the 17-team tournament by five strokes.

Madi Hicks paced the Bison with a 72 and is tied for 12th place. Catherine Monty shot 76 and is tied for 40th place. Elise Hoven and Jo Baranczyk both shot 81 and are tied for 70th place.

NDSU continues play at the intercollegiate on Tuesday.
