Women's soccer: St. Thomas scores two second-half goals to defeat Bison

The Bison led by a goal in the 53rd minute but the Tommies rallied for the Summit League win on Friday.

FARGO — St. Thomas rallied from a goal down and defeated North Dakota State 3-2 in a Summit League game Friday at Dacotah Field.

The Tommies trailed 2-1 in the 56th minute but Mariah Nguyen scored the equalizer at 55:49 and Annika Eckroth scored the game-winner at 71:29.

The Bison scored first when Olivia Watson scored on an assist from Lavin Douglass at 9:21. The Tommies tied it on Jasmine Gates' goal at 23:05 but NDSU took a 2-1 lead when Paige Goaley scored at 52:32 on assists from Alicia Nead and Jess Hanley.

NDSU goalkeeper Abby Wilkinson made six saves and the Tommies' Annie Bantner stopped four shots.

The Bison lost their fourth straight game and they are 0-4-1 since a Sept. 11 win over Drake. NDSU is 0-3 in the league and 4-6-3 overall. The Bison play host to Western Illinois at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2.
