Justin Howard, the third-leading receiver on the North Dakota State football team last season, was suspended for a violation of team rules, said head coach Craig Bohl.
Howard was not at practice on Wednesday. Bohl would not elaborate on the length of the suspension or the rule violation.
"He's not out there right now," Bohl said.
Howard started two games, but played in all 14, and had 24 receptions for 280 yards and one touchdown ¬ a game-winner against Youngstown State.
He returned 20 kickoffs for a 22.7-yard average.

The son of a reporter and an English teacher, and the brother of a reporter, Jeff has worked at the Jamestown Sun, Bismarck Tribune and since 1990 The Forum, where he's covered North Dakota State athletics since 1995.
