University of Nebraska-Omaha hockey coach Dean Blais has received a two-year contract extension that pays him $250,000 a year and keeps him with the Mavericks through 2014-15.
Blais, a former coach at the University of North Dakota and for the Fargo Force junior team, led the Mavs to a 20-16-6 record in his first season. UNO finished in sixth place in its final season in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. The Mavs move to the Western Collegiate Hockey Association in 2010-11.
Blais coached UNDto national championships in 1997 and 2000 and last season led the U.S. National Junior Team to the gold medal in the world championships.
