Blues answer with two runs late to defeat West Fargo

The Moorhead Blues watched the West Fargo (20-16 overall) tie the game 1-1 in the top of the seventh inning, but answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning to seal a 3-1 win over the Patriots on Sunday at Matson Field.

John Cahill started things off with a leadoff single and was followed by a double by Lucas Henry giving the Blues runners on second and third with no outs.

Joe Pieterick connected for a sacrifice fly to score Cahill and Henry scored on an error later in the inning. Cahill finished 3-for-4 with an RBI to lead the Blues (14-15).

Scott Petry and Paul Roers combined for 13 strikeouts on the hill with Roers picking up the win in relief.

Moorhead is next in action 7 p.m. Wednesday against Fargo Post 2 at Matson Field.
