Carson Triggs' third-period goal lifts Moorhead boys hockey to win over Fargo Davies

Triggs' goal midway through the third held up as the game-winner in a cross border matchup against North Dakota's No. 3-ranked team.

FARGO — Carson Triggs' goal midway through the third period stood as the game-winner as Moorhead defeated Fargo Davies 5-4 in the Spuds' matchup with North Dakota's third-ranked team on Tuesday at Scheels Arena.
Triggs scored at 9:42 on assists from Gavin Lindberg and Harper Bentz.
The Spuds locked down the Davies' offense all night, holding the Eagles to 13 shots on goal for the game and just two in the third period. Moorhead put 40 shots on net.
Davies' Cam Bullinger scored the first goal of the game unassisted at 5:15 of the first period, but Moorhead tied it just 15 seconds later when Triggs and Bentz set up Gavin Lindberg's goal at 5:30. Lindberg assisted on Bentz' goal at 11:36 of the first for a 2-1 edge at the intermission.
Davies regained the lead when Jobe Freier scored unassisted at 6:48 of the second period and Ashton Yaeger took a feed from Freier and scored on the power play 40 seconds later.
Lindberg tied it 3-3 with a goal at 10:28 of the second on an assist from Justin Stalboerger, and Triggs struck for his first goal of the night and a 4-3 lead 19 seconds later on assists from Bentz and Joe Gramer.
Bullinger tied the game 4-4 with his second goal of the game at 3:04 of the third on an assist from Jackson Archbold.
Both Lindberg and Bentz had four-point nights and Triggs finished with three. Davies' Bullinger and Freier both had two points.
