WHEATON, Ill. — Concordia College took a game in extras 9-7 against Saint Mary's before dropping the afternoon clash 8-2 to Wheaton College on Friday in college baseball.
The Cobbers (6-7) used a four-run, ninth inning rally to send the first game to extras. Concordia's Max Boran supplied a clutch two-out single that plated two runs in the ninth to knot up the score at 7-7. Aided by a St. Mary's error, the Cobbers scored two runs in the 11th to secure the victory over the Cardinals. Bill Lynch went 2-for-5 and drove in two runs. Sean McGuire added three hits to the Cobbers' 13 total.
Concordia struggled to string hits together in the second game, as Wheaton College collected 13 strikeouts against the Cobbers. McGuire garnered another two hits in the contest for Concordia and drove in the only two runs of the game. Cade Christenson pitched five innings, giving up five earned runs on nine hits and two walks.
