The Concordia Cobbers were recently named by ESPN.com as having one of the Top 10 nicknames in the country for colleges with basketball teams.
According to the ESPN online story, (Cobbers) symbolizes not only Concordia's athletic spirit, but its overall good sense of humor.
Other nicknames that made the list are: California-Santa Cruz Banana Slugs; Evergreen State (Wash.) Geoducks; Western (Kan.) University Ichabods; California Maritime Keelhaulers; Centenary College (La.) Ladies and Gents; Rowan University Profs; Ogelthorpe University (Ga.) Stormy Petrels; Heidelberg College (Ohio) Student Princes; Trinity Christian College (Ill.) Trolls.
