St. John's scored on its second play from scrimmage and that quick strike sparked the No. 21-ranked Johnnies to a 40-28 victory against Concordia in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference football at Clemens Stadium.

St. John's scored on its second play from scrimmage and that quick strike sparked the No. 21-ranked Johnnies to a 40-28 victory against Concordia in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference football at Clemens Stadium.

Johnnies quarterback Joe Boyle connected with wide receiver Brent Graboski for a 73-yard touchdown pass that gave St. John's a 7-0 lead less than two minutes into the game. St. John's scored the game's first 14 points and never trailed in the MIAC opener for both teams.

The Cobbers dropped to 1-2 and 0-1 MIAC. St. John's improved to 2-1 and 1-0.
