FARGO - Jack Plankers is a big kid with a big decision in front of him. It may come sooner than later for the Kindred, N.D., offensive lineman.

He has a scholarship offer from North Dakota State's football program after attending the Bison summer camp last week. He appears to be only the second in-state recruit to have that opportunity along with quarterback-safety MJ Stumpf from Harvey.

"I'm definitely very flattered," Plankers said. "It's what I've dreamed about."

At 6-foot-7 and 290 pounds, Plankers already has Division I Football Championship Subdivision size. He said NDSU is his only offer after attending camps at the University of Minnesota and University of Wisconsin.

Wisconsin told Plankers they would get back to him, but he thinks in-state players will get any offer or walk-on opportunity over him.

He has not heard from Minnesota either.

"Not yet and I don't think they will," he said.

Plankers is done with attending camps for the summer, with the possible exception of Valley City State. He'll spend the rest of the time working, playing baseball (he's a pitcher-first baseman-designated hitter) and doing personal workouts.

He does not have any college visits planned, leaving NDSU as the clear front runner.

"It's a great football program, a great school and it's close to home," he said. "I'll play anywhere they put me but I want to go for offensive tackle."
