College baseball: Tommies shut down Cobbers

Two St. Thomas pitchers allow just a run on three hits in a victory over Concordia on Sunday.

ST. PAUL — St. Thomas starter Graham Laubscher was tough on Concordia's lineup and the Tommies finally broke open a close game with a five-run eighth to win 7-1 on Sunday.

Laubscher worked the first eight, shutting out the Cobbers on three hits while striking out 10. Concordia managed a run in the ninth off reliever Andrew Tri.

St. Thomas' Jake Porter was 4-for-4 and drove in two runs. Concordia's Thomas Horan tripled and Andy Gravdahl doubled.

The Tommies improved to 17-2 in the MIAC and are 23-5 overall. The Cobbers are 9-12 in the MIAC, 15-16 overall and close out the regular season at North Dakota State at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 10, at Newman Outdoor Field.
