EMPORIA, Kan. — The Minnesota State Moorhead softball team lost 4-1 to Missouri-St. Louis, and 10-4 to Southwest Baptist to conclude play at the Emporia State Tournament Sunday.
A 3-run fifth inning doomed MSUM's chances in Game 1. Maddie Snemis cracked a home run for the Tritons (4-7), which was followed an RBI double and single from Morgan Barnoski and McKenzie Lamos, respectively. Anna Lang (1-3) recorded the loss on the mound for the Dragons, allowing four runs off seven hits through six innings pitched.
In the second game, SBU exploded with eight runs in the first three innings, leading 8-1. An RBI single from Jordie McNeilly gave MSUM its first run. The Dragons added three runs in the fourth after Ally Helgoe belted a 3-run home run.
Kaitlyn Bagby led the Bearcats (1-9) with two hits and three RBIs.
MSUM (2-6) hosts Mayville State for a series beginning at noon Saturday, March 13.
