ST. PAUL -- Running back Mo Ibrahim has the statistics to show how much he’s put the Minnesota Gophers on his back this season. The sixth-year senior is second in the nation with 145 rushing yards per game and 19 rushing touchdowns.

But Ibrahim was left off the finalist list of Doak Walker Award on Monday, despite having better numbers in those two categories than the three finalists — Bijan Robinson (Texas), Chase Brown (Illinois) and Blake Corum (Michigan).

Minnesota center John Michael Schmitz was left off the list of three finalists for the Outland Trophy, which goes to the nation’s top interior lineman, on Monday. The Football Writers Association of America named Olusegun Oluwatimi (Michigan), Peter Skoronski (Northwestern) and Calijah Kancey (Pittsburgh) as the Outland’s top three.

With Oluwatimi also playing center, this development could be a sign Schmitz could miss out on the Rimington Trophy given to the nation’s best center. However, the Rimington factors in Pro Football Focus grades, and Schmitz’s numbers are better than Oluwatimi’s.

All-Big Ten Honorees

On Wednesday, Ibrahim and Schmitz were named all-Big Ten first team. Ibrahim, however, did not win the conference’s running back of the year honor, which went to Michigan’s Corum.

Minnesota had only one defensive player named all-Big Ten second team, safety Tyler Nubin, and one named to the third team, linebacker Mariano Sori-Marin. Seven earned honorable mention: linebacker Cody Lindenberg, defensive ends Danny Striggow and Thomas Rush, safety Jordan Howden, cornerback Terell Smith, defensive tackles Trill Carter and Kyler Baugh.
