Men's hockey: Augsburg blanks Cobbers to sweep MIAC series

Concordia lost a pair of one-goal games to the Auggies over the weekend.

MINNEAPOLIS — Jarod Blackowiak's unassisted goal in the second period was all Augsburg needed for a 1-0 win over Concordia in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game on Saturday.

The Auggies swept the weekend series with Saturday's final and a 4-3 win on Friday.

Blackowiak, who had a goal in Friday's victory, scored at 12:41 of the second.

Augsburg goalie Samuel Vyletelka stopped all 34 Cobber shots. Concordia's Matt Fitzgerald had 23 saves.

The Auggies improved to 8-4 in the MIAC and 12-8-1 overall. The Cobbers fell to 6-6-0 in the conference and 9-11-1 overall. They play their final home regular-season series against Gustavus at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10 and 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11.
