MOORHEAD — Gustavus limited the Concordia Cobbers to 215 yards from scrimmage to fuel a 23-6 victory Saturday in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference football opener for both teams at Jake Christiansen Stadium.

Cobbers receiver Jake Evans caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Cooper Mattern to cut the Gustavus lead to 8-6 with 8 minutes, 27 seconds to play in the third quarter. The Gusties countered with the game's final 15 points.

Mattern led the Cobbers in rushing with 63 yards on 14 attempts. He also completed 7 of 11 passes for 55 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions.

Concordia senior linebacker Noah Jenson has a strong performance with a team-high 14 tackles.
