MOORHEAD — Minnesota State Moorhead completed its fifth spring football practice on a chilly Thursday morning, March 31, at Scheels Field at Alex Nemzek Stadium.
The Dragons have 10 practices remaining, including their spring game that is scheduled for 4 p.m. April 23 at Scheels Field.
“I think it’s a relatively young group that’s hungry," Dragon heads coach Steve Laqua said. "We’ve made progress in every practice. I think we’re a long way away from where we need to be. There are a lot of guys who graduated that have played a lot of football.”
Laqua said there are around 80 players on the roster for spring practices and that number should grow to around 110 for the fall with incoming recruits. The Dragons posted a 5-6 record last season.
“We’re like infants who are trying to learn how to crawl and walk. We’re hopefully going to get to that toddler stage by the end of spring practice," Laqua said.
