MOORHEAD — The University of Sioux Falls scored 17 unanswered points during a stretch that started in the second quarter and ended early in the second half to earn a 27-14 victory against Minnesota State Moorhead on Thursday, Sept. 1, at Scheels Field at Alex Nemzek Stadium in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference football.
The game was the season opener for both teams.
Sioux Falls quarterback Adam Mullen completed 24 of 40 pass for 309 yards and one touchdown with two interceptions. The Cougars sacked Dragons quarterback Tommy Falk six times, while limiting MSUM to 209 yards.
The Dragons rushed two yards on 28 attempts, losing 47 yards on the six sacks. Falk completed 18 of 34 passes for 207 yards and a TD with two interceptions. MSUM running back Hayden Boll rushed for 31 yards and a touchdown on 12 attempts.
