Women's hockey: Abbey Hardwick powers Cobbers to victory over Augsburg

Hardwick scored all of her goals in the third period and overtime.

MINNEAPOLIS — Abbey Hardwick scored three goals, including the overtime game-winner, to lift Concordia to a 3-2 victory over Augsburg in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey at Ed Saugestad Rink.

Hardwick scored her first of the game 2 minutes, 14 seconds into the third period to knot it at 1-1. Hardwick scored again at the 12:04 mark of the third to give Concordia a 2-1 lead. Augsburg's Kensie Malone scored late in the third to force overtime.

In the extra frame, Hardwick buried the winner on an assist from Grace Doerring.

Cobbers goalie Kiana Flaig stopped 36 shots to earn the win in net.

Concordia (5-3, 2-3 MIAC) and Augsburg (1-5-1, 1-3-1) conclude the two-game series at 2 p.m. Saturday.
