MOORHEAD — Concordia scored two third-period goals and goalie Kiana Flaig stonewalled Augsburg as the Cobbers earned a split of a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference series with a 2-0 victory on Saturday at the Moorhead Sports Center.

Flaig was impenetrable — and needed to be — against the second-place Auggies, stopping all 41 shots fired on goal. The Auggies outshot the Cobbers 41-17.

Scoreless in the third, Concordia's Lexi Woodward broke the ice with a goal at 10:23 on assists from Emma Fetch and Jade Ford. Fetch then scored an unassisted empty-netter with nine seconds to play.

The Cobbers improved to 3-11 in the MIAC and 6-15 overall. The Auggies fell to 10-3-1 in the conference and 13-6-2 overall.

Concordia plays its final road series of the regular season at Gustavus at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, and 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
