Women's hockey: St. Olaf blanks Concordia to sweep MIAC series

The Oles recorded a second shut out of the Cobbers in two days on Saturday.

NORTHFIELD, Minn. — Solvei Berg-Messerole scored two goals and St. Olaf completed a sweep of a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference series with a 5-0 victory over Concordia on Saturday.

The Oles, who won 1-0 on Saturday, upped its records to 8-3-1 in the conference and 12-5-2 overall. The Cobbers fell to 2-10 in the conference and 5-14 overall.

After a scoreless first period, St. Olaf's Annika Patterson broke the ice at 1:21 of the second. Maddie Anderson and Berg-Messerole followed with second-period goals and Berg-Messerole and MaKenna Beaver found the net in the third.

Goalie Hannah Fritz stopped all 24 shots the Cobbers fired on net.

Concordia hosts Augsburg for two weekend games beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, at the Moorhead Sports Center.
