Women's hockey: St. Olaf first-period goal stands up in win over Cobbers

The Oles' Iona Welsch scored in the final minute of the first period and it was all they needed in a win over Concordia on Friday.

NORTHFIELD, Minn. — Iona Welsch's first-period goal was all St. Olaf needed in a 1-0 win over Concordia in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game on Friday.

Welsch connected on the power play at 19:05 of the first. Oles' goalie Hannah Fritz stopped 17 Cobber shots to get the win.

The Cobbers' Kiana Flaig faced 21 shots and saved 20.

The teams meet again at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28 to close out the weekend series.
