NORTHFIELD, Minn. — Iona Welsch's first-period goal was all St. Olaf needed in a 1-0 win over Concordia in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game on Friday.
Welsch connected on the power play at 19:05 of the first. Oles' goalie Hannah Fritz stopped 17 Cobber shots to get the win.
The Cobbers' Kiana Flaig faced 21 shots and saved 20.
The teams meet again at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28 to close out the weekend series.
Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
