Women's soccer: Mavericks unleash offensive power, defeat Dragons

Minnesota State Mankato's Jenny Vetter scored the game's first two goals and the Mavericks piled on from there in a shutout win over MSU Moorhead on Friday.

MANKATO, Minn. — Jenny Vetter lead a powerful attack and Minnesota State Mankato ripped Minnesota State Moorhead 6-0 on Friday at The Pitch.

Vetter scored the first two goals of the game, and Libby Spangler, Anna Van Wyngarden and Mali Seran also scored goals. The Mavericks picked up a Dragons' own goal.

Mankato outshot the Dragons 24-11 and had a 13-4 advantage in shots on goal.

The Mavericks improved to 4-0-1 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and 6-1-1 overall.

The Dragons fell to 1-3-1 in the NSIC and 1-4-1 overall. They play at Concordia-St. Paul at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25.
