MANDAN, N.D. — Sioux Falls won doubles and took four of six singles matches to down Minnesota State Moorhead 5-2 on Monday at the Mandan (N.D.) Tennis Center.
The Dragons picked up their points at Nos. 1 and 2 singles. Shaelyn Johnson defeated Talia Janos 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 singles and Tiannah Gu bested Danielle Thorfinnson 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 singles.
The Cougars earned the extra point with two doubles wins, but Johnson and Tia Dykema defeated Sydney Osburn and Ella Hancock 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.
The Dragons are 1-4 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and 5-7 overall. They play Minnesota State Mankato at 8 p.m. Saturday and Southwest Minnesota State at 11 a.m. Sunday. Both matches are in St. Peter, Minn.
