HAWLEY, Minn. - Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton's Jenna Green and Jennifer Lopez peppered Hawley's court, tallying 14 kills apiece to lead the Rebels to a 25-8, 25-17, 25-13 victory over Fergus Falls in the Class 2A, Section 8 title match Saturday.

"Our philosophy all year has been power, power, power, and we kept that going," Green said. "We didn't want to let down, either."

Green also had six blocks, while Lopez had five aces and 13 assists.

The power game started early as D-G-F (30-0) cracked off a 13-3 lead in the first game behind four kills, a stuff block and an ace from Green.

"We knew we needed a start like that because you can't get into a tipping game with them because they just hang around," D-G-F coach Jean Lopez said. "We knew we had to keep hitting and stay aggressive."

The second and third games were much of the same, as Jennifer Lopez and Green dominated the whole match.

Fergus Falls libero Ashley Torgusson kept things going, peeling up 20 digs in the loss.

"I felt like our libero was great, but when you're having troubles on the net, you can't slow a team like that down," Fergus Falls coach Renee Erickson said. "We had a tough time blocking them in the middle and that's where they really hurt us."

It was the first appearance in the section title match in school history for Fergus Falls (14-13).

"We did make history, but we didn't make as much as we wanted to," Erickson said.

"But that D-G-F team is the best team we've ever played, hands down."

The Rebels - ranked second in the Class 2A poll - move on to the state tournament, where they will face the Section 2 champion in the first round.

That will likely be Jordan, which is the only team ranked ahead of D-G-F in the poll.

"Jordan's like us in that they have two power hitters, and you know you're going to get a good match from them," Jean Lopez said. "That's a very good team."

FERGUS FALLS (kills-blocks-aces): Erickson 4-0-0 (6 assists), Gagner 2-2-0, Wellendort 4-0-0, Torgusson 2-0-0 (21 digs), Whitney Moore 0-0-0.
