Decorated Thompson volleyball coach Lisa Strand amongst NHSACA Hall of Fame inductees

Strand has been at Thompson for her entire 32-year coaching career.

THOMPSON, N.D. — The North Dakota High School Coaches Association announced that Lisa Strand of Thompson High School, and Randy Johnson from Hazen High School will be inducted into the National High School Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame this summer.

The induction ceremony is slated to take place Wednesday, July 28 in Lincoln, Neb.

Strand has been at Thompson for her entire 32-year coaching career. She has coached track and field, girls basketball, softball and is currently the head volleyball coach. Strand has led Thompson to 16 state volleyball tournaments and five state titles, most recently in 2018. The girls basketball team made two state tournament appearances with Strand.

Johnson retired from Hazen High School in 2018 after 31 years of coaching and serving as athletic director his last six years. He is currently the executive secretary of the North Dakota High School Coaches Association and past president of the NHSACA.
