DICKINSON -- Dickinson State has named a new head women's volleyball coach.
Twenty-six-year-old Maura Bronte-Pfeifer (FY'-fur) comes to the BlueHawks from Chadron State, where she was a student assistant and a graduate assistant coach. She succeeds Ryan Platt, who resigned after last season.
The Dickinson Press reports that the DSU volleyball program has been put on probation by the NAIA for violations including inappropriate conduct and the use of ineligible players.
DSU is a traditional volleyball power, regularly winning conference titles. The school won a national championship in 2000.
