It wasn't pretty. But the Maple Valley boys basketball team is moving on.
Sophomore Jordan Haseleu had 21 points to help the Raiders hold off scrappy Northern Cass in a 55-45 victory during the first round of the North Dakota Class B, District 2 tournament Friday at the Fargo Civic Center.
"We met them early and they were good," Haseleu said. "We are having a tough time on offense right now. We just always have a tough first quarter."
The Jaguars gave Maple Valley all it could handle in the first half.
Northern Cass (5-15) used a gritty defense and balanced offense to limit the Raiders to 11 first-quarter points.

Second-chance points were key for the Jaguars, who outrebounded Maple Valley 16-8 in the first half.
Senior Spencer Symington led the way with six points and eight rebounds in the opening 16 minutes.
Maple Valley (17-3) relied on talented sophomore guard Jordan Haseleu for much of its first-half offense.
Haseleu scored 14 points to help the Raiders to a
27-22 halftime advantage.
