Dragons women's basketball sinks Bemidji State

BEMIDJI, Minn. — Peyton Boom and Sarah Jacobson combined for 36 points as the Minnesota State Moorhead women's basketball team downed Bemidji State 63-57 on Friday.

The Beavers (6-7, 3-6 Northern Sun) seized an early advantage but failed to race ahead. MSUM trailed by two points at halftime before Boom and Jacobson sparked a 22-point third quarter to give the Dragons a lead they would not relinquish.

Bemidji State narrowed the gap to within a point, but the Dragons sunk 11 free throws down the stretch to hold of the rally.

Boom led the Dragons with 20 points and 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the campaign. Jacobson tallied 16 points, while Megan Hintz notched 10 boards. The visitors outrebounded the Beavers 51-28.

MSUM climbed to 12-4 overall and 7-2 in NSIC play. Trailing Minnesota-Duluth in the standings by a half-game, the Dragons travel to Minnesota-Crookston at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 11.
